The proposed revision to the Alcohol Policy, adopted as a rule in 1997, contains a number of minor changes for clarity and correctness.  Significant specific revisions include, as follows:

• In Section I, (b), it is specified that alcohol must be served by a licensed and insured third party vendor.
• Residential living quarters in study abroad programs are included within the policy, as provided by International Programs.
• Primary authority for the Alcohol Policy is shifted to the Vice President for University Relations although authority over faculty and students is retained by their respective areas, as appropriate.
• Admission to university events may not include any charge for alcohol and no governmental funds may be used to purchase alcohol.
• An alcohol server is specifically required to refuse service to anyone in danger of over consumption.
• A new informational section is added concerning the risks of substance abuse.
• The section relating to Educational Resources and Support is revised for currency.

Proposed Amendment to Regulation 6C2R-6.012 has been initiated by Dr. Mary B. Coburn, Vice President for Student Affairs.
